Auction Porter (South Wales)

Location: South Wales, Port Talbot

Job description:
Provide a front line support for the handling/management of auction assets through lot allocation (auction set-up) to final dispatch and or collection.

• Ensure all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment polices are observed at all times
• Assist auction viewing by helping customers with enquiries
• Support marketing by capturing digital images and lot description for previews
• Comply with all employment policies specifically Data Protection
• Undertake other duties assigned by the Salesroom Manager/Supervisor

Qualifications: No specific qualifications are required however excellent customer care and a ‘can-do’ attitude are essential, as are good communications. Attention to detail and complete confidentiality are also required.
Working conditions: The role is warehouse and or vehicle pound based requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment at all times.
Physical requirements: The duties are repetitive and physically demanding requiring a reasonably high level of physical fitness.

Cash Office Assistant (South Wales)

Location: South Wales, Port Talbot

Job description:
To provide support in the delivering of a Cash Office service at the South Wales Auction site that demonstrates the professional standard of John Pye Auctions.

• Provide highly accurate cash reconciliation and administration records
• Maintain the computer based “Auction Management System”
• Deliver exceptional customer service to customers and clients

Qualifications: No specific qualifications are required however excellent written and verbal communication and numerical skills are essential to the role.
Working conditions: The role is based at the South Wales Auction Facility. It requires total awareness and compliance of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Anti Fraud policy. The ability to manage challenging customers/clients to achieve the best outcome for the business.
Physical requirements: Able to use office equipment eg. computers, filing systems, shredders, telephone etc and the ability to manage and prioritise work that may be unpredictable is essential.

Jewellery and Gemstone Specialist (Nottingham)

Job description:
The UKs fastest growing auction house network are recruiting for a Luxury Assets Jewellery and Gemstone Specialist to join their Luxury Assets central valuations and processing centre in Nottingham.
Our valuations and processing centre services two regional luxury salerooms in Derby and Marchington, and our flagship saleroom in London’s Mayfair.
Reporting directly to the Head of Luxury Assets, Midlands, the purpose of the role is to appraise, value and catalogue jewellery and gemstones, and to use your established network of clients to bring new vendors and buyers to the business.
To be successful in this role the post holder will have experience in asset valuation and business development for the secondary market, as well as an established network of contacts.
GIA or GEM-A coloured stone qualifications desirable.

Tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Jewellery and Gemstone valuing and cataloguing for our UK wide weekly auctions
  • Jewellery and Gemstone identification and research
  • Generating own leads and/or new areas of growth
  • Representing John Pye Luxury Assets at industry events and act as a Brand Ambassador
  • Support in other areas in the business when required

Skills required:
The post holder will be commercially aware with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. A minimum requirement of three years’ experience working in the jewellery industry, ideally with a formal qualification in jewellery and/or gemstone appraisal.
