World Champion Boxer Carl Froch delivered a hammer blow Monday 12th November 2012 in the final run up to his global IBF title defence – as a guest Auctioneer at John Pye & Sons.

Carl teamed up with Forest’s sponsors John Pye Auctions, at the old Shippo’s brewery in Basford, Nottingham, Monday 12th November 2012 for the company’s weekly public auction.

The weekly Monday live auction sale of electrical items including 60″ Plasma TVs usually attracts at least 200 hundred buyers but numbers were expected to double as Froch made his last public appearance before his face-off with Yusaf Mack on Wednesday ahead of the weigh in on Friday and then the IBF World Super Middleweight title fight at Nottingham Arena on Saturday November 17th 2012.
John Pye & Sons, the UK’s fastest growing independent commercial auction house, are current shirt and main club sponsors of Nottingham Forest. The Nottingham based UK Auctioneers have also thrown their commercial support behind Boxer and Forest fan, Froch, by teaming up with Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn by co-sponsoring Nottingham’s own Number One Champ for his IBF World Super Middleweight fight.

‘Knockout Blows, Knockout Prices’

MD Adam Pye said: “Carl delivers knockout blows, Pyes deliver knockout prices – so we thought we’d offer him the chance to give it some hammer on the rostrum to auction some premium stock ahead of the big fight night.

“I think Carl could be a natural at this, he’s got the right persona for an Auctioneer; you need confidence, psychology and banter to auction from the rostrum.

“I’m looking forward to a bit of competition from Carl and our customers are looking forward to verbally sparring with a home grown World Champ by throwing in bids from all angles, he’ll need to keep his guard and strike the hammer blow at the right time to achieve John Pye Auction prices. It’s not for the feint hearted.”

John Pye & Sons hold more than 400 auctions, both live and online, a year across 9 UK sites. The company works on behalf of UK Government, Retail PLCs, Banks, Finance Companies, Insolvency Practitioners and Private Businesses, selling more than 1.4m items of electricals, 12,000 vehicles and thousands of items of plant & machinery every year through auction.

John Pye & Sons are currently managing national furniture clearance auctions on behalf of John Lewis, as well as managing the UK’s biggest auction clearance of 8,000 digital tablets on behalf of a leading UK Retail PLC. The company stated it was proud to support Nottingham achievers. Carl Froch helped John Pye & Sons and Nottingham Forest launch their sponsorship deal and Forest away kit back in June; the shirt has become a record selling away shirt for Forest since the launch.
