Probate to Liquidations

Operations expanded and over the next 20 years the company recruited staff, acquired more space at the Cattle Market and auctions grew to encompass industrial liquidations, including plant, machinery and vehicles, auctioned on behalf of Local Councils.

It was in 1982 when the company hit upon a new market; corporate liquidations. Mr J Twigg, of Thornton Baker, was the first Insolvency Practitioner to instruct John Pye to manage a liquidation – the valuation and auction sale of 600 items of plant and machinery and stock at a Staffordshire site of two insolvent engineering firms. The auction was a resounding success and put Pyes firmly on the road into the UK insolvency market which grew organically and substantially over the next decade.
