The UK’s biggest independent commercial auction house is set to open Europe’s biggest indoor auction hub in South Wales, which is set to be a bargain hunter’s paradise and creating over 150 jobs over the next three years.
We are proud to announce our company has grown from one trading site to twenty in the last five years, holding over six hundred online auctions a year for UK banks, lenders, retailers, Government, Insolvency Practitioners, property owners and agents.
Becoming the UK’s brand leader in auctions of everyday stock and assets, from property to vehicles, to luxury assets and retail stock, we are now focusing on South Wales for our latest phase of UK expansion, having acquired a 315,000 sq. ft. site on the Kenfig Industrial Estate within a mile of Port Talbot.
Our Managing Director Adam Pye said: “We have been searching for a key site in South Wales for over six months. It is a fantastic region with great prospects for a substantial auction hub. We have a number of key clients based in the area and they will all benefit from a John Pye Auctions site closer to their operations.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with the South Wales local community. We are a proud and personable family business with a strong belief and track record in creating sustainable long term partnerships for all stakeholders; clients, customers and staff. We have a number of long term growth projects which offer some bright prospects going forwards and our South Wales hub will play a key role in supporting many of those.”
Over the last 15 years we have been able to grow our workforce from 24 full time staff to 240 full time staff, as well as developing our five trading departments all supplying John Pye Auctions with stock and assets for sale: John Pye Retail, John Pye Luxury Assets, John Pye Property, John Pye Business Assets and John Pye Vehicles.
Our Business Development Director Sheldon Miller added: “This will be our biggest site to date in our UK network and presents a fantastic prospect for the business and the region as a whole.
“In 2012 we acquired a similar site to this in the West Midlands and that site has grown from one saleroom to six and from 6 staff to 70 in four years. John Pye Auctions South Wales Hub, which we be calling Auction City as it develops in stature, will grow even faster since our business has developed significantly further in operational and sales volume over the last four years.
“Some of the UK’s leading Retailers are pledging increased and record volume level stock volumes to John Pye Auctions, this extra site capacity has been acquired at a pertinent time for the business and the secondary market, for which we provide a substantial gateway to for clients looking to sell surplus assets and stock by way of seasonal clearance, overstocks or returns.”
The acquisition of the new South Wales auction hub was managed by our John Pye Property division, one of five trading divisions within the business and headed up by our very own RICS Chartered Surveyor, Richard Reed MRICS. The South Wales site will be run by a management team made up of existing John Pye management and new South Wales staff, overseen by John Pye Auctions ex-Greater London Auction Manager, Noel Mulready, who will be South Wales’ Site Manager. South Wales Ex-Chief Superintendent Phil Davies also joins the company as the Business Development Manager.
