Just over a year ago Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, starred on his last-ever production for a sci-fi themed music video – which was filmed inside our auction site in Port Talbot.
The actor decided to go in front of the camera one last time for his friend and collaborator, Welsh rock musician Jayce Lewis.
The pair, as stated by Dave, have a “like father and son” relationship that has been going on for years thanks to their shared interests in music. They originally met at a Star Wars convention 20 years ago – since then, Dave became Jayce’s manager and business partner and they stuck together through “thick and thin”, as Jayce Lewis states.
The two were filmed inside out our 315,000 sq. ft auction site in Port Talbot for the music video of Jayce’s single ‘Shields’.
In the video, Dave plays a government chief in charge of a secret experiment which opens a portal to another world and releases energy which he struggles to control. That energy includes Jayce, 32, from Kenfig Hill, near Bridgend.
Our Managing Director Adam Pye is a friend of Jayce and was more than happy to provide the unique setting for the video shoot.
“It’s not every day we are approached by a famous rock musician to film a music video at our auction site and having known Jayce for a while, I was only more than happy to accommodate him and his team.
It’s an impressive space which is normally a hive of activity with products, customers and members of our team, so to see it cleared and set up with a stage and lighting was fantastic, and to have such a well-known and loved actor in the building was really exciting.
The video looks incredible and I am looking forward to seeing the final edit. This was a great experience for myself and the South Wales John Pye team and we would definitely consider offering the space again for production opportunities.”
