When one of the UK’s biggest supermarket PLCs had to clear over 700 pallets of seasonal garden furniture at the end of summer in one of their main distribution centres to make way for the Christmas stock build they called upon John Pye Auctions.
Following an initial appraisal of the West Midlands distribution centre, we initiated an immediate logistics plan to relocate all 700 plus over-sized stock pallets of garden furniture to our five acre East Midlands Hub in Nottingham within a week of site appraisal.
Following full relocation of the stock, we devised a series of late summer garden auction sales, targeted at both end users, independent garden centres and wholesale stock exporters.
All the boxed stock was assembled and offered to auction over a 6 week period with all stock sold over late August and early September, equating to the largest stock volume disposal John Pye Auctions had managed to that date in 2005.
The UK supermarket PLC remains a John Pye Auctions client to this day, as the account has evolved to encompass many other stock categories managed to secondary market through auction.
