John Pye Auctions Luxury Assets department in Mayfair’s Old Bond Street regularly showcases premium luxury watch collections to an international market of buyers.
These collections have encompassed many luxury watch makers, one such example was a selection of Rolex watches consigned for sale by auction.
The eclectic collection featured a wide range of ladies and gentleman’s Rolex sport editions, including the Explorer II, Submariner and GMT Master II. One of the more unique lots was a Rolex Day Date Oyster Quartz; unusual in the fact that it was powered by a battery and not the trademark automatic movement that Rolex is commonly known for. The model attracted significant interest and achieved a successful winning bid of £6,650 on the day of the auction.
For the ladies, a Rolex 18ct Datejust was the star attraction, featuring factory set diamonds on a Mother of Pearl dial. This model achieved an outstanding winning bid of £13,000.
However, it was the Rolex 18ct Daytona which was the ‘Piece de Resistance’ of the collection and surpassed all over bids. Evolving over the course of several decades this particular model impacted the sale with an outstanding £14,500 hammer price winning bid through the luxury watch online auction.
John Pye Luxury Assets were honoured to house such a formidable collection, attracting its biggest number in viewings to date and the results proved to be a fine testament to the watches and our Mayfair luxury salerooms.
